Slow Charging

2017-04-18

You may remember those horrible time that it takes all night to charge your phone. And sometimes you stare at the screen, watching the battery meter crawl up from bottom to top with the last breath. Whatever your experience, let's go and figure out how to fix it if possible, and start with the most common culprit…

If your phone is charging slowly, the first step is to check the USB cable. Few users are cognizant of that it goes through all wear and tear in the course of daily use, which renders it less and less effective.

To have more guarantees on its durability, avoid cases like bending severely, stepping on it, leaving it somewhere during scorching and freezing conditions.

Moreover, keep in mind that the cable is designed to be less robust than the device port, so do it gently when you plug in and out of devices on a daily basis.

Using the computer to charge your phone is another factor that drags down the speed, for the reason that the current outputted from PC turns out to be far less than that from wall socket.

1. Using the phone while charging

When you connect your phone with adaptor, it’s in the course of charging; while you are playing it, it’s in the course of discharging. Using and charging synchronously means the effect of charge and discharge counteracts, consequently extending the charging time.

Even worse, it will use up battery even as your phone soaks it up. It’s worth noting that keeping your phone in the state of charging and discharging simultaneously will cause battery performance degradation.

2. Charge in over-heat or over-cold condition

Lithium battery is very sensitive to the temperature. In over-cold condition, lithium battery low-temperature protection mechanism will be activated and prevent it from any chemical reaction.

In over-heat condition, the loss rate of the battery capacitor will increase. Both of the above conditions have great impact on the battery activeness. So, indoor temperature is the ideal environment for lithium battery charging.

3. Charge until battery volume is 0%

It’s a misunderstanding that it’d better to charge after the battery is completely depleted. Charging will be unstable and even hazardous when it’s in low battery or automatically shut down state. Likewise, it’s not suggested to keep charging when it reaches 100%, or the battery performance will decline as time goes by.

Although your screen is the number one battery sucker, the apps running in the background, especially those large-sized apps, continuously making your phone in discharge state, can constantly drain away the power.

If you want to shorten the charging time, it’s recommended to make operations such as End All and disable the network etc. The ideal solution is to shut down the device while charging.
